
Online Applications were invited from the intending eligible candidates for filling up of 1360 posts in the rank of sepoys / Constables in different Battalions vide advertisement No.02/SSB, dtd.22.09.2024. The last date for the submission of the online application was extended up to 30.10.2024. In the meantime, the government has further sanctioned 720 different posts f Battalions. Now the total number of vacancies for the posts of sepoys / Contables is 2080 (1320+720), which is published here for the information of all concerned. The break-Up of 2080 posts is as follows :
Eligibility Criteria for Sepoy and Constable Positions
Candidates interested in applying for these positions must meet certain eligibility criteria set by the Odisha Police Department:
Age Limit:
General Category: 18 to 23 years
Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC): Relaxation of up to 5 years as per government norms
Educational Qualification:
Minimum: Passed 10th grade from a recognized board.
Preferred: Candidates with a 12th grade or higher qualification, especially for SS Battalion roles.
Physical Standards for Selection
Physical fitness is a key requirement for the Odisha Police. The standards vary slightly across the OSAP, IR, and SS Battalions to ensure that recruits can meet the physical demands of their roles:
Height Requirements:
Male (General): 168 cm
Male (SC/ST): 163 cm
Female (General): 155 cm
Female (SC/ST): 150 cm
Chest Measurements for Male Candidates:
General: 79 cm (unexpanded) and 84 cm (expanded)
SC/ST: Relaxations as per government guidelines
Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per government standards.

Medical Examination
A medical examination is required to confirm the physical health and fitness of candidates. Requirements include:
- Vision: Candidates must have a vision of 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other without corrective lenses.
- General Health: Candidates must have no significant medical issues that may impair duty performance.
